How is Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Treated with Robotic Technology?
Robotic-assisted, laparoscopic surgery uses a 3-D high definition camera and surgeon-guided robotic arms which allows for precise excision of endometriosis. Excision of endometriosis is the best treatment for endometriosis and laparoscopic surgery is minimally invasive. Ideally, all of the endometrial lesions will be excised. Excision of endometriosis is the only treatment known which can cure disease and thus improve quality of life. This helps to relieve symptoms by eliminating the tissue which is causing the bleeding and discomfort. Patients heal quickly from this procedure and there is minimal scarring. The robotic arm can translate the surgeons movements into small actions and thus provides advanced precision and dexterity when operating.
